XIAMETER ® OFX-8468 silicone oil Characteristics: • Soft, smooth feel • Durable • Low yellowing • Easily formulated into microemulsions Advantage: • Gives some fabrics a premium feel even when dried at low temperatures (<100°C [212°F]). Application: • The formulated microemulsion is suitable for fabric pad dyeing and exhaust dyeing (when using a jet dyeing machine for exhaust dyeing, the customer should ensure that the shear stability of the emulsion can meet the operating requirements before use). • The prepared emulsion can also be used with commonly used fabric finishing additives (such as anti-wrinkle resin, etc.). Typical Physical Properties: To Specification Writer: The following data are for reference only and may not be used directly in developing specifications. Appearance: clear to cloudy, or light yellow Viscosity: 5,000-15,000cp Nitrogen content: 0.6% Instructions: XIAMETER ® OFX-8468 Silicone Fluid can be emulsified into microemulsions using a variety of commercially available surfactants. The following formulations are for reference only; surfactants can be substituted, subject to HLB (hydrophile/lipophile balance). Table 1: Emulsification --Ingredients Content % OFX-8468 silicone oil-- 15.0 TO 5-- 4.5 XL 90-- 3.0 Phase transfer water-- 4.5 Proacetic acid-- 0.1 Dilution water-- 72.8 Acetic acid-- 0.1 TO 5 and XL 90 are supplied by BASF. Steps: 1. Add XIAMETER OFX-8468 silicone oil, TO 5 and XL90 into a beaker and stir for 5 minutes. 2. Add phase inversion water and acetic acid, stir at 1000 rpm for 10 minutes. 3. Mix the remaining acetic acid and dilution water, slowly add it to the above solution, and stir at 350 rpm for 20 minutes until a uniform emulsion is formed. 4. Control the pH value around 5.5-7.0. Small changes in HLB or surfactant ratio will cause changes in emulsion appearance and stability. When preparing emulsions, use a paddle mixer. Do not use high shear equipment. Wash the material with non-ionic surfactant and rinse thoroughly, then pickle with 2g/L 80% acetic acid for 5 minutes to neutralize the residual alkali solution in the previous process to avoid causing instability of the pad dyeing solution. Oily spots or sticky rollers appear on the fabric. 2. If using anti-wrinkle resin, dilute in a mixing tank according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the temperature is too high, cool to 30°C (86°F) before adding silicone. 3. Pre-dilute the required amount of silicone emulsion with approximately an equal volume of cold water and add to the mixing tank. 4. If using anti-wrinkle resin catalyst, it needs to be pre-diluted with equal weight of water and then added to the mixing tank. 5. Add cold water to the final volume, then adjust the pH to 80% acetic acid 5, To improve the softness and stability of the pad dyeing solution. Dipping 1. Wash the material with non-ionic surfactant and rinse thoroughly, then pickle with 2g/L 80% acetic acid for 5 minutes. Neutralize the remaining alkali solution in the previous step and reduce the dyeing speed. 2. Pre-dilute the required amount of silicone emulsion with approximately an equal volume of water. The ratio of liquid to material is 20:1 or 30:1. Prepare fresh bath solution and adjust the pH value to 4 with 80% acetic acid. 3. Leave it for 10 minutes, increase the temperature to 35-40°C (95-104°F), keep it there for 20-30 minutes, and complete the exhaustion.
